Filling the gap between irssi, a popular cli irc client and snort, a low-fat ids. It will monitor snort logfiles and display incidents directly in your irc window - in realtime. a nice feature is the mapping of ip adresses to nicknames, so you will not only see what host the attack came from, but also the nicknames of possible offenders if they are on the same channel as you. this might look somewhat like:
01:44 ircsnort: ICMP PING CyberKit 2.2 Windows (some.evil-hacker.net -> me.org) [hackernick!~hackerident@some.evil-hacker.net in #SomeChannel on EFNet]
